With the days getting longer, and a return to live events slowly coming into focus, Secret Agent Gel & Redders team up on ‘Change My Ting’ for Bristol’s Durkle Disco imprint – a perfect soundtrack to summer good times. Adding a current twist on a classic vibe, this UK Funky banger aims straight for the dancefloor as producer Secret Agent Gel melds vintage tribal percussion with a seriously catchy bassline driving the tune forward. Redders steps up on vocal duties, showing off the full range of his abilities as he motors through R&B style melodies, straight up bars, and gravel-throated dancehall DJ stylings – all within 48 bars! Think Donaeo filtered through an 80s dancehall lens and you start to get the cpicture.
Hot off the back of their weighty ‘Heat Beams’collaboration with Levela, duo Document Onefollow suit with their stomping new single ‘Hands Up’ on Elevate Records. The pair have proven that they’re able to manipulate a variety of BPMs but more recently they’ve found a home within the drum & bass ranks of Elevate. Their dancefloor inspired records have kept fans engaged both at home and in club spaces, something which has translated throughout their live sets over the last twelve months despite the current circumstances. ‘Hands Up’ is a return to form, following a destructive pattern which can instantly be recognised as the Document Onesound.
Winding up with a call to action through robotic patches of sample, Document One go in for the jugular through the first shaking breakdown of ‘Hands Up’. Crackling LFOs sit underneath weight bass stabs and with each wave of static you’re pulled along for the ride. The producers do what they do best and that’s dig deep to provide another thumping record. A track which sits pride of place amongst the heavy artillery of Elevate Records’ massive discography, an imprint strictly for the weightier cuts.

To me, New Grass represents revival, growth and exploring new paths. So when Benjamin showed me some experiments he had been making, exploring how moss reacts to water, I instantly felt that this minuscule world would be the perfect way to express that.
