“STAND STRONG” is out now https://taboo.komi.io __ One year ago, on January 7, 2025, the Altadena and Pasadena community went through a moment that changed everything. Many of us, including my family and I, were evacuated from our homes. Others devastatingly lost theirs. Together, we faced the harsh reality of uncertainty as a community. In the midst of that uncertainty, "STAND STRONG" originally came to life alongside my daughter Jett. While living through displacement and processing everything we were experiencing, we created this song as a way to process our emotions and to hold space for everyone around us. The song continued to grow through the voices of the youth affected by the fires. Jett, alongside other young voices, including children from the neighborhood and the Mayfield Senior High School choir, helped shape it through their perspective, carrying their emotions, their questions, and their strength. Woven throughout the track are the uplifting words and background vocals of Angelica Nicole, mother, singer, and teacher, helping carry a message of healing and resilience. Through SongVest, supporters can participate by owning a royalty share. The funds raised will support the Altadena Middle School softball team, helping replace equipment and rebuild the fields and facilities impacted by the fire. With the blessing and full support of everyone involved, we share this visual testimony to honor what our community endured and to acknowledge the families who bravely shared their stories. Our hearts are full of empathy and love as we share this reality in the hope of finding healing and peace one year later. This project is more than a song. It is for the youth, the families, and the community.
