Joeski - Lessons In Dub Music, Released 2017-02-17, Poker Flat Recordings, PFR183
Joeski, also known as Joe Flores, was born in Brooklyn and raised in Queens - a true New Yorker who grew up in and around the legendary New York house scene of the 90s. Joeski himself is woven into the narrative of that period, having been a founding member of the Chocolate Factory and performing at the Limelight and Tunnel, before his career went fully international. His recording career followed suit - a long list of seminal EPs stretch back to 2000. Here, Joeski brings his considerable talents to Poker Flat Recordings, dropping the Lessons in Dub EP. Lead track 'Dub Music' is a throbbing example of the power of groove and dynamics- the rhythm is pure tough and funky New York house - while the expert use of reverb, echo and delay give the track its dubwise flavour. 

Jamaican dub reggae production techniques have always been a key ingredient of dance music - the use of space and texture was essential to house music's development - and 'What is Dub Love' further illustrates Joeski's mastery of the form. 
The track rides a tight rhythm track, adding percussion and spacey sound effects through its stripped down groove. 

'Roots' completes the trio on this release - another dubbed out basement rhythm track with a sick bassline that will cause mayhem on clued up dance-floors.

Put simply, Whitesquare took the scene by storm last year.

It felt like a coming of age for an artist who has built up a reputation for being one of the most consistent producers is the game. After his smash hit 'Folded Reality' was the sound of the Ibiza summer with Marco Carola hammering it weekly on the Amnesia terrace at Music:On, we now welcome him back to 20/20 Vision for his Ayoama Dawn EP.

'Block' and 'The Sound' both showcase a tougher edge to Whitesquare's style, whilst still retaining his trademark sound. Driving kicks, precision drum programming, hypnotic vocals and razor sharp stabs all feature across both tracks, which will definitely be most effective in big room environments. 

The EP comes fully equipped with a tough, techno tinged remix of 'Sound' from 20/20 bossman Ralph Lawson, and Rui-Z. 

Ayoama Dawn EP is out 20th March.

DGTL Barcelona 2017 - LINE UP REVEALED

For the third time DGTL returns to the Catalan Capital with an extensive focus on music, art and sustainability. After the first announcement DGTL reveals the biggest part of its particular style of programming. A selection of in-demand headliners, local acts and breakthrough artists. 

Phil Kieran The Last Train To Melbourne (PKRD031)

Last September, a year of preparation paid off when Phil performed at a unique 'Thick As Thieves' event in Melbourne. Accompanied by a 12-piece Chamber Orchestra, Phil played a combination of new material created especially for the event, alongside interpretations of his best known tunes "Skyhook" and "The WASP".


The EP merges live classical instruments like the cello and violin with the trusted electronic sensibilities of a Phil Kieran production. Strings are enhanced with a soft Juno 60 pad and topped with live-recorded vocals from Belfast born Jess Brien.


"Last Train To Melbourne" is the title track, "Last Train To Drums", a stripped bare percussion version reminiscent of late night train journeys. "Melbourne Strings", with strings and vocals only was penned originally as the opening track at the orchestral gig and closes this 3 track EP.
