I didn’t begin with a clear intention, and I didn’t try to define its emotional meaning. I simply kept returning to it. When we filmed the video, the approach was similar. We spent the day driving around Berlin, searching for a place without really knowing what we were looking for. As the light started to fade, we suddenly came across a small abandoned airport. There was no time to keep searching. We trusted the moment and stayed. The music itself came from somewhere instinctive rather than planned. It felt as if my body knew what needed to be expressed before my mind could make sense of it, like my hands moving before I’d decided where they should go. We were lucky to catch the last rays of sun that day, and that brief light became part of the piece.
