Set against a backdrop of end of the world predictions on May 22, 2011, this coming-of-age documentary is told from the perspective of a group of young people in Joplin, Missouri, as they encounter the extreme power of mother nature when a rare EF-5 monster mile-wide tornado hits their hometown, on high school graduation day. In the fierce 200 mph winds of the twister, they discover the power of their resilience as they fight for survival - each with transformative stories spurred by their experiences of that day. This catastrophic event ravaged Joplin and yet it overcame, rebuilt, and became an enduring symbol of hope. The film features adrenaline-inducing real life footage filmed by people in Joplin, taking us into the eye of the storm. filip custic x Mandrake Hotel x W1 Curates presents filip glitch

As the latest Artist in Residence at the Mandrake Hotel , filip custic embarked on an investigation of how London and its iconic landmarks might physically and conceptually shape our understanding of reality, identity and culture. In streaming custic’s previous performances for public consumption, the mandrake’s partnership with @w1curates became the catalyst for custic’s storytelling, as the artist reclaimed public space to showcase his practice, engaging his audiences beyond the streets and amplifying his message all through multidisciplinary interpretations of ‘connectivity’. The open invitation to attend custic’s climactic performance outside W1 Curates represented the mutual goal of our partners, which is to provide wider access to disruptive art forms, and encourage radical experimentation by passionate creatives. Thank you Mandrake and filip custic for sharing your vision with us, and a huge congratulations to the Founder and Lead Curator of the Artist in Residence Programme Maguelone Marcenac on your guidance and leadership in this project!
