Since the release of his last long-player, S.P.Y has been digging through the crates - rediscovering his love for all things jungle, hardcore and breakbeat. He began his ‘Dubplate Style’ journey in 2018, paying homage to original jungle culture and kitting out two studios with vintage synths and sequencers to recreate that authentic jungle feel. Across fifteen heavyweight tracks he’s put a fresh twist on the music that originally brought him into the world of drum & bass.

Kicking things straight into gear is the stripped back stealthy banger ‘After The Rain’ featuring the deep, grizzly tones of legendary MC GQ. Continuing the bassweight reign is the reggae-tipped ‘Runaway Dub’, plus ‘Whole In The Speaker’ that’s the ultimate throwback and new-school hybrid with a unique hardcore edge that calls back to raves from across the eras. S.P.Y mixes up the tempos with the nostalgic ‘See Your Face Again’, complete with uplifting vocals and rave piano. This future summer classic has all the right components to soundtrack the sunshine.

After being inspired by the rich history of labels like Moving Shadow, V Recordings, Good Looking, Full Cycle, XL, Formation, Dread, amongst many others, S.P.Y proudly presents the jungle sounds of past, present and future in his ‘Dubplate Style’ LP.

Legendary NYC DJ and producer Agent Orange takes on the classic Armand Van Helden track 'Witch Doktor​' and flips it with a remix that delivers a pumping techno anthem. Now the track's been given a music video that takes viewers on a wild journey through iconic NYC nighclubs like Tunnel, Sound Factory, Pacha, Vinyl, Limelight, The Shelter, The Roxy and more.

Upon completion, Agent Orange sent the remix to Carl Cox, who played it 2 weeks later at Resistance​ and has been rinsing it ever since. Soon Adam Beyer and Layton Giordani would hear it and reached out for a copy to play. By the end of August it was getting heavy rotation from Carl Cox, Adam Beyer, Chris Liebing, UMEK, Monika Kruse, Thomas Schumacher, Layton Giordani, Pig&Dan, Loco&Jam, Spektre and Durtysoxxx.​

Leonardo was a new artist to the label, with his emotive release last February on We Are The Brave, and Alan is proud to have him back this year for this follow up titled ‘Soul Foundations’ EP.

The release opens with ‘Gentle’ – yet not similar to its name with a dominant kick drum and a vocal chant giving the tracks an ethereal tone. This is the one track which has a debut remix from 9th House, taking things a little more jacking with experimental and heady percussive notes.

Composed 4/4 track ‘The Prophecy’ builds energetically with an infectious, seamless and uplifting rhythm, while broken beat ‘Call To My Beloved’ is a perfect dawn and dusk track - its body moving and mind melting modulations capturing from the first note to the last.

A confident release for We Are The Brave showcasing a different depth to what some fans have come to expect, as Leonardo’s shows his emotive, abstract, deep and ethereal productions at their very best offering a wider insight to what he represents as an artist.
