Logistics, one of Hospital Records’ most prolific artists, is back with his seventh studio album ‘Hologram’. Inspired by his travels to Hong-Kong and New Zealand, this universally admired drum & bass figure presents a vibrant 16-track collection soaked in his signature groove, soul and liquid-funk stylings.

Opening track ‘Lotus Flower’ sets a warm springtime tone with fluttering harp-like arpeggios and atmospheric pads. ‘Broken Light’ follows on from the success that singer/songwriter Thomas Oliver brought on Logistics’ collaborative LP with brother Nu:Tone. A sombre tone matched with melancholic lyrics bring a blissful beat to the album.

Keeping true to the craft, ‘Chant’ flips to Logistics’ jungle style with molten-hot flair. A powerful punch of expertly sliced breaks and vocal stabs are the ingredients for this dancefloor weapon.

It’s safe to say that this has been worth the wait. Although titled from the ever-growing illusion of the digital-age, ‘Hologram’ is an example of Logistics’ very real talent and is a welcomed addition to his impressive repertoire of drum & bass classics. Quantity, quality and a fierce musical character is everything we have come to expect from this Hospital staple.

From releasing on focal drum & bass imprint Ram Records, to hosting his own show on Radio 1, Rene LaVice’s steps over the last five years have been nothing short of groundbreaking. Now breaking into his third LP cycle, with the album due to be released this Spring, he’s followed up his massive collaboration ‘Cold Crush’ with Gydra to present double edged single ‘How Do I Kill’.

With creeping percussive undertones, a rolling bassline and sonic stabs which layer its progressive hooks, Rene LaVice flips the switch for a more old-school reminiscent offering. Its call-to-arms vocal slams regiment themselves throughout the mix and you become instantly aware of the record’s dancefloor allure.

Having filled a host of tour dates this coming Spring / Summer, Rene LaVice has already made a monumental impact on the club circuit for 2018. And tracks like ‘How Do I Kill’ only highlight these chaotic scenes, signalling another movement towards his highly anticipated third album.

Due to its unique timing at the very beginning of festival season, Ultra Music Festival has always been the place where the top artists in electronic music debut all of their newest songs. Musical performances are prepared all winter in the studio, then perfected for their debut at Ultra Music Festival. Often, artists use these performances as their standard sets for the rest of the year.

Due to the historical significance of the Winter Music Conference, it is also the first time each year that a huge number of DJs gather in one place, with Miami Music Week as the backdrop. Artists from the mainstream and the underground alike are able to see each other’s best performances and be inspired to improve their own. In this way, the progression of musical development is able to stay authentic year after year.

Over the last 20 years and especially recently, this has begun an arms race of sorts to see who can put on the best performances. Artists use their full spectrum of creativity to try to introduce groundbreaking elements into their shows. From new music, to special guests, to immersive audiovisual experiences, Ultra Music Festival has become the place for an artist to pull out all the stops in order to make their ambitions become reality. The biggest challenge for both the festival and the artists has become how to top the previous year’s performance every single time.

For 20 years, unforgettable moments have arisen across a variety of Ultra Music Festival’s stages. What started in Miami has expanded to dozens of countries across 6 continents, with over a million yearly attendees. Only time will tell what incredible moments will arise in the NEXT 20 years…
