"Studio Doulzia is a young, indie, 2D animation studio with an authentic but also uniquely nostalgic quality to creating work.

As a diverse and international team largely made up of marginalized people native to and currently residing in the USA, Canada, and Japan we celebrate our own distinctive personal experiences, embracing our familiarities and learning from our differences.

We would hope that not only artists would be inspired by our model to spread the concept of universal togetherness and invest energy to make that a part of their own lives . For animators, we hope to demonstrate that you can do this with or without industry. You don’t need anyone’s permission, you can carve out your own space.

Our overarching goal is crafting feature film animation reflective of groups unfairly censored or underrepresented in media; POC and LGBTQ people, While refining Doulzia’s house aesthetics. As well as stretch the culture of animation to reach disciplines in fashion and music. 

The premise stated by the films director, founder of Doulzia Alex Pierre:

“Conceptually the video parallels Mike's stream of consciousness and the narrative style of rap. The video follows Studio Doulzia's Noul (the protagonist of their film concept Skeletonblood) moving through train cars in a New York Subway Q Train. Noul anxiously looks for a train car where she can feel at ease, her journey speaks to finding assurance and humor in the subtle unfamiliarities that exist within the atmosphere of intimate settings like train cars, that otherwise could make a person feel vulnerable. The song felt really visceral, and we wanted to capture that as much as we can visually.”

With this film, we set a standard of quality for the future works to expect from us.

Killbox consists of two names which have become synonymous with drum & bass – Ed rush and Audio. And after decades playing out in countries across the world, as well as a string of releases which litter the music collections of listeners everywhere, it’s no surprise they’ve become such legendary figures. This year, they’re about to bring their extensive experience together for a formidable new project, one which will sway the genre’s tide and once more see them standing at the helm of its creative direction. The underground overlords are here to filter your entire world into darkness. 
Even as a standalone artist, Audio is revered across all circles. From his hard-hitting productions, to his inked love for 174bpm, he’s remained uncompromising throughout his career. With an ethos that’s stretched through a continually impressive output, which has seen 5 albums, countless 12”s and over 15 years of production, he’s solidified his position within the scene’s core. 

No one would argue that Ed Rush changed the face of drum & bass, breaking out of every paradigm which was set up before him. After being an influential part within London’s burgeoning nightlife, he began to craft a sound which marked a new era in hardcore. Extracting darkside jungle classics from a realm which hadn’t yet built its foundations, the producer pushed its developing forefront alongside Optical, his partner at Virus. Moving into new territories, he soon teamed up with another heavyweight. What followed was an album with huge historical implications, ones which carry forward into today… 

And this forthcoming EP from the duo represents exactly what they’re about: a no compromising return to the sound which made their era of drum & bass so recognisable. Whilst opening track Bound to Others is eerily foreboding with its extra-terrestrial samples and aggressive LFO, Hype Cycle is a metallic, clanking riddim, one which throws down to darker, techier depths – otherwise known as Johnny L – See Red on crack. Pitch Fork channels a skittering, old-school vibe, with pounding drums and a climatic drop into chaos... And lastly, Surge ends on a climax. Hitting harder with every break, you’re taken into a chasm of snapping beats and cascading drum patterns. This EP is the introduction you’ve been waiting for. 

Together, they present Killbox. The merging of two intimidating musical minds, prepare for a union like no other. With Ram Records acting as their platform for debuting new music, this is about to be a defining moment for drum & bass.
