The Lab is our weekly office rave up where we live stream our favourite DJs and producers. On February 4, we welcome Kaytranada, one of Canada's most exciting producers, for a mid-week special in the corner of our office.
Kevin Celestin, better known as Kaytranada, is part of a forward-thinking bunch of artists coming out of Canada - Cyril Hahn, Ryan Hemsworth and Jacques Greene to name a few - causing a buzz throughout North America and beyond.
First producing at the age of 14, Haiti-born Kaytranada's influences span from Michael Jackson to Pink Floyd to highly respected hip hop producer J Dilla. Known for his upbeat versions of Jill Scott's 'Golden' and Janet Jackson's 'If', the 21-year-old has garnered an enormous online presence, with most of his dancefloor-friendly, r'n'b-leaning output collecting hundreds of thousands of plays on his SoundCloud as well as officially releasing on Bromance Records and Los Angeles imprint HW&W.
With an album in the works, he's someone that'll no doubt be causing a fuss in 2014. This Lab isn't one to miss so tune in below or on Mixmag TV at 6pm tomorrow.
