Boom Karuna Project in Africa (2019)

Boom Karuna Project was born in 2014 as a charity initiative with the
purpose of channelling festival revenues to empower communities.

So far, we’ve been mostly working with local organisations and
associations. However, recently, we decided to go beyond the local
region and launch a project in the archipelago of São Tomé and Príncipe,
in Africa.

Between 2 and 6 of June 2019, the project involved two main initiatives.
Firstly, the donation of an open source plastic recycling machine to
the NGO Missão Dimix to be handled by locals so they could turn waste
into everyday objects. Secondly, the intention was to empower
communities to operate the machine and raise awareness about the
potential that lies in upcycling plastic waste.

Funds from ticket sales enabled the Boom Karuna Project to venture
beyond European borders.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS - MUITO OBRIGADO/A!
